Zoie Saunders, Secretary | Vermont Agency of Education
Vermont's Agency of Education has outlined several key events and deadlines for the coming months. These include deadlines for regional school calendars, updates on educational series, gatherings, and office hours for various educational initiatives.
For Vermont's 2025-2026 academic year, regional school calendars are due by April 1, as mandated by 16 V.S.A. §1071 (e). Superintendents and headmasters in public school areas are required to convene, vote, and establish a uniform calendar for the following school year. Approved calendars should include student attendance days, vacations, holidays, and five required teacher in-service education days. Submissions should be sent to the Agency of Education at AOE.EDInfo@vermont.gov. For further inquiries, contact Suzanne Sprague or Maureen Gaidys.
An educational series titled "PBS American Revolution," produced by Ken Burns, is expected to launch in Fall 2025. Vermont educators teaching grades 6-12 are encouraged to sign up for a newsletter to receive updates and resources ahead of the July 4, 2026, commemorations. More information is available through Emily Leute.
The Upper Valley Farm to School Gathering is scheduled for April 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sharon Elementary School Gymnasium. Organized by the Vermont Farm to School & Early Childhood Network, this event is open to Vermont educators, administrators, parents, students, and the general public. Details for childcare and RSVP options can be obtained by contacting Connor Floyd.
Behavioral Threat Assessment (BTA) Team Office Hours are available for current or prospective team members to ask questions and receive guidance from BTA consultants. These are scheduled for Tuesdays from 12 to 2 p.m. and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m. For participation details, Michele Hartje is the contact person.
Finally, Dual Enrollment System Office Hours are planned for April 3, with sessions at 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 3-4 p.m. This is an opportunity for counselors and staff from both secondary schools and colleges to discuss the integration of Early College into the Dual Enrollment system with the Agency of Education's Student Pathways Division. Ryan Parkman and Amy Dodge can provide further information on engagement.
