The Trump Administration has signed an executive order that significantly impacts government employees involved in national security. This order limits collective bargaining rights for workers across several federal agencies, including the Departments of State, Defense, Justice, and Health and Human Services.
NEA President Becky Pringle expressed concerns over the administration's actions, stating, "The Trump Administration is once again gutting workplace protections, diminishing the voice of working people, and attacking collective bargaining rights. It is stripping away rights from workers across various federal agencies, including the Departments of State, Defense, Justice, and Health and Human Services."
Pringle highlighted the broader implications of the order, particularly its effect on educators and military families. "When you take away collective bargaining, you take away workers' voices. This is a slap in the face to men and women who serve our country, and the 7,000 educators who have dedicated their lives to helping students from military-connected families thrive."
She further criticized the order, describing it as "cruel and unforgivable," and claimed it prioritizes tax cuts for billionaires over the needs of military students and families. "Educators and parents won’t be silent in our advocacy," she concluded.
