The New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED) has announced the selection of two local students as delegates for the National Youth Science Camp in West Virginia. The chosen students are Camille Branch, a junior at Making Community Connections Charter School in Keene, and Dylan Jiang, a junior at Nashua High School South in Nashua.
The National Youth Science Camp is known for honoring high school students who have shown academic excellence in science and mathematics. It provides a residential program that encourages students to explore various disciplines in biological and physical science, as well as art and music.
"Congratulations to Camille and Dylan on this tremendous leadership opportunity. I’m proud of their passion for STEM and desire to grow in this field, which is vital to the future of our state and our nation. These outstanding students will not only expand their understanding of science education, but also push their academic boundaries to new heights," said Governor Kelly Ayotte.
The selection process for the camp involves an invitation from the governor of West Virginia to the governors of all states to nominate two students each. The camp, held from July 10 to August 2 in the Monongahela National Forest, includes a comprehensive learning experience in science, technology, engineering, and math.
"We are thrilled to have two exceptional New Hampshire students join other innovative youth from across the country for three weeks of immersive learning in science, technology, engineering and math. This incredible opportunity will introduce them to diverse career paths and help shape their future success," said Commissioner Frank Edelblut of NHED.
