Three teachers from Nevada have been selected as finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). These teachers are in the running to receive one of the nation's top honors for educators in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and computer science.
Jhone Ebert, Superintendent of Public Instruction, stated, "Congratulations to the three outstanding Nevada educators - Christine Corbin, Richard Knoeppel, and Taylor Kockenmeister - who were named state finalists for the prestigious PAEMST award." Ebert noted the dedication of these teachers in making science and math engaging for their students and expressed pride in having them represent Nevada.
The PAEMST awards program is overseen by the National Science Foundation on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Awardees receive a $10,000 prize from the National Science Foundation, a presidential certificate, and an invitation to Washington, D.C.
