The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) is currently accepting applications for its 2025 High School Summer Internship Program. The application window closes on April 7. This initiative is part of the state's ongoing efforts to revamp the high school experience by offering students real-world learning opportunities.
Over the summer, five students will be selected to join one of several key LDOE offices as paid interns. The positions available involve policy research, communications, curriculum review, and data analysis. Interns will engage in projects that directly assist the Department’s initiatives and aim to influence the future direction of education in the state.
Potential placement areas for interns include:
1. Career and College Readiness, where interns will share student success stories and create communication toolkits focused on work-based learning.
2. Teaching and Learning, where interns will assist in curriculum reviews, contribute to post-legislative session work, and offer insights on state-level initiatives including the integration of artificial intelligence in education.
3. Governmental Affairs, focusing on the analysis of legislation and educational data affecting Career and Technical Education (CTE).
4. Public Affairs, where interns will develop media materials and communication campaigns to inspire future educators, particularly in CTE areas.
Interested students can find more details about the roles in each office online.
To apply, students are required to provide several documents: an Application for Student Employment, an LDOE Summer Internship Supplemental Application, a high school transcript, and a resume detailing relevant coursework, clubs, volunteer activities, or past experiences. For students under 18, a Parental Permission Release Form is also needed.
