Commissioner of Education Angélica Infante-Green | Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green and the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) are urging students, families, and educators to complete the state's annual SurveyWorks, ahead of the approaching April 4 deadline. SurveyWorks is a statewide education survey designed to gather feedback on Rhode Island’s public education system. It has already received over 120,000 responses this year.

Last year, RIDE collected over 130,000 responses, a record for the survey, receiving the highest response rate yet from educators and families. Feedback was provided by over 80,000 students, more than 12,000 educators and administrators, and nearly 36,000 families. RIDE is optimistic about surpassing those numbers this year.

Three schools in particular are noted for their outreach efforts. William D'Abate Elementary School in Providence, Raíces Dual Language Academy at Margaret I. Robertson School in Central Falls, and Agnes E. Little Elementary School in Pawtucket have all achieved 100% participation rates from their communities. These schools have employed a variety of engagement strategies, such as direct outreach, prizes, and reminders about the importance of the survey, to achieve complete participation.

Commissioner Infante-Green emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, “Engaging and listening to the community members we serve is critical to our continuous improvement of Rhode Island schools.” She praised the schools that have fully engaged their communities, stating, “Congratulations to Providence’s William D’Abate Elementary, Central Falls’ Raíces Dual Language Academy, and Pawtucket’s Agnes E. Little Elementary who have reached 100% completion rates. There is still time for students, families, and educators to let their voice be heard and help us improve the educational experience statewide.”

To encourage participation, RIDE has been weekly highlighting schools with the highest response rates on social media. The survey takes only a few minutes to complete, and results from the previous year are available on the RIDE website's SurveyWorks Resource Center.
