The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) and the Department of General Services (DGS) have reached a key milestone in updating the state's 65-year-old police training facilities. A "topping out" ceremony took place, highlighting the installation of the final steel beam on the structural frame of the new academy's central structure, the Marquee Building. Officials confirm the project remains on schedule and within budget.
PSP Commissioner Colonel Christopher Paris commented on the significance of the progress. "Every step of this project brings us closer to providing our cadets with a world-class training facility that meets all their needs for success. The Pennsylvania State Police Academy is the nation's best police academy, producing our country's finest law enforcement officers. These new facilities ensure we continue to attract recruits of the highest caliber and prepare them for 21st-century policing in the best possible environment."
Speakers contributing to the ceremony included Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Colonel Christopher Paris, Brian Law from Wilson Construction, and Carrie Moore, a partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP.
