Lt. Gov. Austin Davis visited Munhall to discuss the Shapiro-Davis Administration's investments in community projects through the new Main Street Matters program. This initiative includes 81 community projects, eight of which are in Allegheny County.
Davis, who has roots in the Mon Valley, emphasized the significance of revitalizing local communities. "Growing up in the Mon Valley, I saw firsthand the issues many of our communities have with blight and disinvestment," he stated. "I heard all the stories about how great McKeesport's Fifth Avenue used to be, but I want us to start a new chapter. While Pennsylvania's downtowns and Main Streets are often windows into our past, Governor Shapiro and I know that they can be economic engines for our future. As we look around at all of the chaos happening in Washington and on Wall Street, it's important to remember that investing in Main Street is a smart investment."
Munhall Borough will receive over $460,000 to enhance its business district through streetscape improvements. The grant announcement took place during a news conference on Munhall's Main Street. Davis also toured local businesses, such as The Pizza Company and Draft House.
Speakers at the event included Munhall Mayor Rob Falce, State Sen. Nick Pisciottano, Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato, and local business owner Larry Stahl.
