Austin A. Davis 35th Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
Lt. Gov. Austin Davis is scheduled to address the Shapiro-Davis Administration's proposed budget for 2025-26 and its implications for enhancing community safety in Pennsylvania. The event will take place at the Butler County Courthouse on April 16 at 1 p.m.
The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, chaired by Davis, has sanctioned $45 million in Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) grants. These grants aim to reduce community violence through various model programs and are designed to engage community groups familiar with local issues. In Butler County, the District Attorney's office is set to receive approximately $900,000 to further develop the Butler County Gun Investigation Program.
The proposed 2025-26 budget outlines a $10 million increase for the VIP program and an additional $10 million for the Building Opportunity through Out-of-School Time (BOOST) initiative. The BOOST program focuses on afterschool activities that aim to ensure the safety of children while offering enrichment opportunities.
The news conference, slated to feature Lt. Gov. Austin Davis, Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger, and Commissioners Kevin Boozel, Leslie Osche, and Kimberly Geyer, will explore how the new budget is projected to impact safety measures in the state.
