Today in Oklahoma City, Superintendent Ryan Walters lauded President Trump's executive order that effectively shuts down the U.S. Department of Education. Describing it as a significant win for parental rights and localized governance, Walters expressed approval of the action.
Superintendent Walters stated, “For too long, the federal government has weaponized education, using it to push radical, leftist ideology while stripping parents of their rights and directing funds to union bosses.” Walters further emphasized the importance of the order, saying, "President Trump’s executive order marks a pivotal moment in American history, the federal money grab ends today."
This executive order seeks to transfer education decision-making authority back to states, parents, and local communities by ending federal intervention. The intent is to remove bureaucratic control and allow curriculum and academic standards to be shaped by those with a direct stake in students' success, rather than by distant political figures and agencies.
“Oklahoma has led the fight against federal overreach, and we will continue to fight for parental rights,” Walters declared. He assured that, “This is a pivotal moment for education freedom, and we have already begun planning for this order to ensure funds go back into the classrooms.”
