Austin A. Davis 35th Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
Lt. Gov. Austin Davis visited Butler County as part of his ongoing tour of Pennsylvania communities, highlighting strategic investments aimed at improving public safety. During this visit, it was announced that the local district attorney's office would receive nearly $900,000 from the Shapiro-Davis Administration to help combat gun violence.
"Across the Commonwealth, we're making communities safer - gun violence is down statewide, thanks to the good work of state and local law enforcement, as well as community-based violence prevention organizations," Davis stated. He emphasized that while significant progress has been made, "there is much more work to be done. Gun violence isn't just a Philadelphia or Pittsburgh problem - it's a Pennsylvania problem, and it's uniquely an American problem. But it's a problem we can, and must, do something about."
The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), led by Davis, recently allocated $45 million in Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) grants. These grants support diverse approaches to reducing community violence, involving organizations attuned to local needs. As part of this initiative, the Butler County District Attorney's office will receive $892,694 to enhance the Butler County Gun Investigation Program and other safety projects.
Several speakers, including Butler County Commissioner Kevin and District Attorney Richard Goldinger, participated in the event along with Dr. Tracy Veri and Lt. Gov. Austin Davis himself.
