Governor Josh Shapiro recently visited Bethlehem Memorial Fire Station to express gratitude to first responders and discuss his proposed 2025-26 budget, which aims to enhance support for Pennsylvania fire companies. His proposal focuses on providing crucial resources needed by fire departments to build safer communities across the state amid declining numbers of firefighters.
Governor Shapiro recognized the dedication of firefighters: "In the face of significant danger, Pennsylvania's professional and volunteer firefighters continue to rise to the challenge." The Governor visited Harrisburg Bureau of Fire Station 1 with his family and Chef Robert Irvine to thank those who responded to the recent arson at the Pennsylvania Governor's Residence.
