Governor Josh Shapiro is slated to visit the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department to discuss proposed actions that further his Administration's support for Pennsylvania's firefighters. His 2025-26 proposed budget includes a significant $30 million grant program designed to assist fire companies. This program aims to help fire companies purchase essential life-saving equipment, recruit and retain personnel, and cater to their individual requirements.
The Governor and his family have observed Pennsylvania's firefighters' dedication, both professional and volunteer, in their vigilant service during emergencies. Their commitment involves confronting dangers to ensure public safety.
The event will include the participation of several key figures. In attendance will be Governor Josh Shapiro, Mt. Lebanon Fire Chief Kurt Christofel, Ralph Sicuro, President of the Pittsburgh Fire Fighters IAFF Local 1, Congressman Chris Deluzio, County Executive Sara Innamorato, Senator Wayne Fontana, and Representative Dan Miller.
The visit is scheduled for Monday, April 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Lebanon Public Safety Building, located at 555 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15228. A press conference will be held following a tour of the fire department at approximately 1:20 PM. The conference will be available for live streaming on pacast.com/live/gov and governor.pa.gov/live/.
