Angela Fitterer, Executive Deputy Secretary | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
Governor Josh Shapiro and First Lady Lori Shapiro are set to host the 2025 Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Governor's Residence. This marks the return of the event following Governor Shapiro's pledge to reopen the Residence for such gatherings.
The celebration will take place with pre-K students from across Pennsylvania expected to attend. Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, Second Lady Blayre Holmes Davis, and the Easter Bunny will also participate. The inclusion of these guests aligns with Governor Shapiro's recent budget proposal, which includes significant allocations for child care and early education.
Central to this budget is $55 million allocated for bonuses to child care workers and $10 million to increase rates for Early Intervention providers. Additionally, the budget proposes a $15 million increase for the Pre-K Counts program to improve wages and stabilize the early education workforce.
The Easter Egg Hunt event will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Governor's Residence in Harrisburg. Entry for press members will be through the Maclay Street entrance, and a live stream will be available on pacast.com and governor.pa.gov.
