State School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler announced that applications are now open for approximately $3.5 million in 21st Century Community Learning Centers grants for the 2025-26 school year. The program supports student learning outside regular school hours in areas like reading and mathematics.

Organizations eligible for the grants are required to provide an average of seven hours of programming weekly in schools with significant low-income student populations. The grants, which are awarded for five years starting July 1, offer between $50,000 to $350,000, contingent on federal funding. Applications need to be submitted by 12:01 p.m. on June 10 through North Dakota Department of Public Instruction’s WebGrants site.

The NDDPI is accepting applications from various entities such as school districts, nonprofits, government agencies, and for-profit corporations. This grant round is exclusively for those without current 21st CCLC awards or with those awards ending on June 30.

An applicant workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. Central time on April 29 to provide program information and application guidance. Registration is required for the workshop.

Organizations are urged to address absenteeism in grades 6-12, promote high school students’ job skills and credentials, and offer computer science and cybersecurity instruction.

Questions can be directed to Arlene Wolf, program administrator, at 701-328-2295 or through dpischoolapproval@nd.gov. Further details are available on the NDDPI’s 21st CCLC web page.
