Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis and Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner Thomas Cook are set to visit the Berkeley Hills Fire Company. The visit is focused on observing the measures being implemented to address recruitment and retention, including a live-in program that offers housing and training to participants who volunteer.
Governor Josh Shapiro's proposed budget for 2025-26 seeks to support fire companies across the Commonwealth. The budget includes a proposed $30 million competitive grant program aimed at assisting fire companies in making significant changes, such as improving recruitment and retention efforts.
The visit is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Berkeley Hills Fire Company, Station 247, located at 235 Siebert Rd., Pittsburgh, PA.
