The Pennsylvania Departments of Labor & Industry and Health have initiated a program that provides on-the-spot birth certificates at PA CareerLink locations, as announced today. This effort aims to help Pennsylvanians access necessary documents more effectively, thereby facilitating entry into the workforce.
This pilot program, currently operating at the PA CareerLink in Lancaster County, is consistent with the Shapiro Administration's objective to eliminate employment barriers such as the unavailability of a state-issued birth certificate. The service is available only to individuals born in Pennsylvania.
"Having access to your birth certificate shouldn't be what holds you back from starting a new job or applying for housing," stated Labor & Industry Secretary Nancy A. Walker. "Initiatives such as this represent how we are removing barriers, expanding opportunity, and getting stuff done for Pennsylvanians."
The announcement included remarks from several key figures in the initiative: L&I Secretary Nancy A. Walker, DOH Secretary Dr. Debra Bogen, and Christine Roggenbaum, the CareerLink Site Administrator. Their comments emphasized the program's role in supporting Pennsylvanians in overcoming document-related obstacles to employment.
