Austin A. Davis 35th Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
Lt. Gov. Austin Davis is set to join local leaders and business owners to discuss significant investments in northeastern Pennsylvania. The event will occur on Wednesday, April 30, in Berwick and Lewisburg.
Gov. Josh Shapiro has announced that the Shapiro-Davis Administration is dedicating funds to 81 community projects, with notable efforts in two projects in Union County and three in Columbia County. These initiatives are part of the Main Street Matters program, aimed at revitalizing downtown areas, supporting small businesses, and enhancing local economies.
The Main Street Matters initiative is managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). It has seen a strong response, with over 200 applications totaling more than $43 million in requested funding. This reflects the widespread need for investment in Pennsylvania's Main Streets.
The event will include remarks from several local officials, including Columbia County Commissioner Dave Kovach, Berwick Mayor Timothy Burke, Berwick Council President Robert Lewis, Union County Commissioner Stacy Richards, and Lewisburg Mayor Kendy Alvarez, among others.
The schedule for the day includes a news conference at 10 a.m. at the Berwick Industrial Development Authority. Later, at 1 p.m., participants will embark on a walking tour and visit small businesses, starting at the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership.
