Pennsylvania announces crisis intervention technical assistance initiative

The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) is set to collaborate with local leaders, law enforcement, and behavioral health professionals in Berks County. The focus of this collaboration is the announcement of a new statewide Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Technical Assistance Center initiative. This initiative is notable as it is described as the first of its kind in the nation. The event will also highlight efforts in Berks County to improve responses for individuals experiencing crises and enhance community safety.

Key figures involved in this announcement include John Adams, Berks County District Attorney; Jackie Weaknecht, Director of PCCD Office of Justice Programs; Pam Seaman, Administrator for Berks County Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Program; and Kristy Belschwinder, Forensic Diversion Program Manager at Connections Work.

The announcement will take place on Monday, May 12 at 2 PM at the Berks County Court House, specifically in the Commissioner's Board Room located on the 13th floor at 633 Court St., Reading, PA 19601. A livestream of the event will be available online.
