Pennsylvania Department of Aging Secretary Jason Kavulich will meet with Northumberland County leaders to announce the allocation of $3 million in Senior Community Center (SCC) competitive grants. These funds aim to support projects such as facility modernization, new health and entertainment programs, technology upgrades, and nutrition service enhancements.

The SCCs across Pennsylvania provide essential services to older adults, including nutritious meals, educational opportunities, transportation services, financial and insurance counseling, and exercise programs. The funding for these grants comes from the General Assembly through the Pennsylvania Lottery.

Secretary Kavulich will be joined by Northumberland County Commissioners Sam Schiccatano and Meghan Beck. Also present will be Olivia Sims, Administrator of the Northumberland County Area Agency on Aging, and Erica Miller, Director of Herndon Adult Community Center.

The announcement is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at noon at the Herndon Adult Community Center located at 5089 State Route 147 in Herndon. Media personnel planning to attend must RSVP with their details.
