Officials from the Shapiro Administration, including representatives from the Departments of Health, Environmental Protection, and Conservation and Natural Resources, are set to announce the winners of the 2025 Lyme disease art contest. This initiative invited Pennsylvania students in grades one through six to create posters or videos under the theme "Protect. Check. Remove." aimed at raising awareness about tick exposure.
A total of 27 students will be acknowledged for their creative contributions across both poster and video categories from various regions within the Commonwealth.
Dr. Robert Bonacci, Special Advisor to the Secretary of Health; High Garst, DEP Policy Director; and Ali Bowling, DCNR Executive Policy Specialist will be present at the event alongside student winners, teachers, and parents.
The announcement is scheduled for May 15 at 11:00 AM in the Main Rotunda of the Pennsylvania Capitol Building located at 501 North 3rd Street in Harrisburg.
Visuals for attendees will include a tick mascot, displays of student artwork, and resources related to tick-borne diseases.
