The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and the Oregon Lottery have honored John McIntyre as the 2025 Education Support Professional of the Year. The announcement was made at a surprise event attended by ODE Director Dr. Charlene Williams, Parkrose School District Superintendent Michael Lopes Serrao, and Sacramento Elementary School Principal Sarah Lamb Christensen.
John McIntyre, the Lead Custodian at Sacramento Elementary School, was recognized for his dedication to creating a welcoming environment for students. Dr. Williams praised him, saying, “Mr. McIntyre’s inspiring devotion to caring for both the students and the school help make Sacramento Elementary a warm, welcoming and joyful place for students to learn and grow.” Governor Tina Kotek added that McIntyre is a "community-builder" who makes everyone feel they belong.
The recognition comes with a $5,000 award from the Oregon Lottery and a commemorative plaque for both McIntyre and Sacramento Elementary School. Mike Wells from the Oregon Lottery expressed pride in supporting this award, noting McIntyre's hard work and positivity.
Superintendent Lopes Serrao described McIntyre as an "incredible role model," while Principal Lamb Christensen noted his pride in his work and his positive impact on students. Robyn Stolin, Supervisor of Maintenance for Parkrose School District, highlighted McIntyre's ability to uplift the school community through meaningful relationships.
