The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has announced the recognition of eight Missouri Gold Star Schools for 2025. This program aligns with the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. It honors schools that achieve outstanding academic results or perform at high levels while serving a significant number of disadvantaged students.

The schools recognized as Missouri's 2025 Gold Star Schools are: Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience in St. Louis Public Schools, Conway Elementary in Ladue School District, East Elementary in Ozark School District, Eugene Field Elementary in Poplar Bluff School District, Green Forest Elementary in Green Forest R-II School District, James Walker in Blue Springs School District, Marion County Elementary in Marion County R-II Schools, and Steam Academy Middle School in Ferguson-Florissant School District.

Commissioner of Education Dr. Karla Eslinger expressed her congratulations to those involved: “Congratulations to the students, teachers, and staff members at each of these schools for earning this recognition,” she said. “These schools demonstrate that academic excellence is possible while striving to help their students find their path to success. We’re so proud of their hard work.”

The Missouri Gold Star Schools program was established in 1991 and follows the same nomination criteria as the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program. The U.S. Department of Education will announce its Blue Ribbon Schools later this fall.
