Shapiro Administration honors student art in Lyme disease prevention campaign

The Shapiro Administration has recognized 27 students for their participation in the 2025 "Protect. Check. Remove." Lyme Disease Student Art Competition. The competition aims to raise awareness about ticks and encourage preventative measures for safely enjoying outdoor activities.

The event featured leaders from the Departments of Health, Conservation and Natural Resources, and Environmental Protection. Dr. Robert Bonacci, Special Advisor to the Department of Health, emphasized the administration's commitment to promoting healthy behaviors and preventing diseases through creative initiatives like this contest. "It's a creative opportunity for students and their families to learn how to prevent tick bites and Lyme disease," he stated.

Other speakers included High Garst, Policy Director at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and Ali Bowling, Executive Policy Specialist at the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
