Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt reported that Pennsylvania's municipal primary election proceeded without significant issues. County election boards noted only minor, isolated problems during the voting process.
Schmidt expressed gratitude towards those involved in facilitating the election. "As always, I'd like to thank the hundreds of county election officials and the approximately 45,000 poll workers who made democracy possible today," he stated. "Because of them, Pennsylvanians were able to securely cast their vote at more than 9,000 precincts across our 67 counties."
Approximately 800,000 mail ballots were distributed to registered voters for this primary election. By 7:30 p.m., around 70% of these ballots had been returned according to reports from counties.
Final voter turnout statistics will be released in a few days after all votes are counted. Preliminary observations suggest that turnout was typical for municipal primary elections.
