AFT President Randi Weingarten released a statement following the murder of two Israeli diplomats in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred during an event organized by the American Jewish Committee, aimed at engaging young diplomats with IsraAID, an Israeli nongovernmental organization known for its humanitarian efforts worldwide.

Weingarten expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, describing their deaths as "heart-crushing." She emphasized the importance of remembering them positively: "May their memories be for a blessing."

Highlighting IsraAID's cooperative work with Palestinians to support humanitarian efforts in Gaza, Weingarten extended condolences to the victims' families and communities. She reiterated that "all human life is precious" and condemned the antisemitism behind these acts of violence.

The statement was also signed by Fedrick C. Ingram, Secretary-Treasurer, and Evelyn DeJesus, Executive Vice President of the American Federation of Teachers.
