Austin A. Davis 35th Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
Officials from various Pennsylvania state departments will convene to emphasize the importance of avoiding cell phone use while driving. The gathering, scheduled for May 27, 2025, at the Capitol Media Center in Harrisburg, comes ahead of the enforcement of "Paul Miller's Law" on June 5. This legislation prohibits the use of hand-held cell phones by drivers.
The event will feature a demonstration using a driving simulator to highlight the risks associated with distracted driving. Members of the media are invited to participate and experience firsthand the potential dangers of texting while behind the wheel.
Key figures attending include Mike Carroll, Secretary of PennDOT; Major Robert Krol from the Pennsylvania State Police; Michael Humphreys, Insurance Commissioner; Mark Compton, CEO of PA Turnpike; Senator Rosemary Brown; and Eileen Miller, a national advocate and mother of Paul Miller Jr., after whom the law is named.
The event is set to begin at 10:00 AM. Media personnel interested in covering it should RSVP via email.
