The Maryland State Board of Education is scheduled to convene on Thursday, May 29, at 9 a.m. The meeting will take place at the Nancy S. Grasmick State Education Building in Baltimore.
During this session, the board will discuss a joint policy with the Accountability and Implementation Board regarding criteria for teacher career ladder pilots in local school systems for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. An update on the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) is also on the agenda.
Recognition will be given to New Teachers of the Year from various local school systems and recent National Blue Ribbon School awardees during the meeting. Additionally, there will be consideration of a resolution concerning guidance on funding for charter schools.
