Dr. Carrie Rowe, Acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Education | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh, Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Michael Humphreys, and Pennie Executive Director Devon Trolley are scheduled to visit Union Community Care. The purpose of the visit is to discuss the proposed federal funding cuts to Medicaid by Congressional Republicans and the potential impact on health care access for over three million Pennsylvanians.
A recent analysis by the DHS indicates that more than 300,000 residents in Pennsylvania could lose their health coverage if these proposed federal funding cuts are implemented. Medicaid plays a crucial role as a safety net for individuals and families with low incomes, offering comprehensive benefits that help people maintain their health, work, and care for their families. Additionally, potential cuts at the federal level could place numerous rural hospitals under financial strain due to increased rates of uncompensated care.
The event will take place on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Union Community Care located at 304 N. Water Street, Lancaster, PA. Joining Dr. Arkoosh and Mr. Humphreys will be James Reichenbach, Chief Community Impact Officer of Union Community Care.
