Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding is set to meet with agriculture business leaders and farmers at People's Provisions in Elliottsburg, Pennsylvania. The meeting aims to highlight concerns regarding proposed federal funding reductions for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and their potential impact on Pennsylvania's economy.

According to the Shapiro Administration, SNAP benefits contribute approximately $365 million each month to the state's economy. Any changes or cuts to SNAP could result in fewer resources for those in need and economic setbacks for food banks and retail grocers.

Governor Josh Shapiro's administration emphasizes its commitment to combating hunger while supporting local farmers and the agricultural industry. The governor's 2025-26 budget proposes increased investments to address hunger and bolster farms throughout Pennsylvania.

The event will feature Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, People's Provisions Owner Lindsay Hutchinson, and Chicano Sol Farm Co-Owner Jarrah Cernas. It is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10 at 1 p.m. at People's Provisions located at 2226 Shermans Valley Road.

Media personnel planning to attend are asked to RSVP with their news outlet information by contacting aginfo@pa.gov.
