Marcus Delgado, Deputy Secretary of Administration | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry Secretary Nancy A. Walker visited Rider Park in Lycoming County to engage with students from Williamsport and Montgomery area high schools on the first day of their summer employment. These students are participating in MY Work, a program designed for high school students with disabilities. The initiative, created by L&I's Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), aims to provide students with job opportunities and work experience within their local communities.
Secretary Walker expressed her enthusiasm for the program, stating, "It brings me such joy to visit MY Work locations each summer - from meeting the students to seeing all the fascinating projects they are working on over the course of the program - these visits are a great reminder of the incredible work our Office of Vocational Rehabilitation is doing across our Commonwealth." She emphasized the value of the skills gained by these students, which will benefit them throughout their careers while also contributing positively to their communities.
Walker also highlighted her commitment to supporting programs that empower Pennsylvanians living with disabilities, saying, "Along with the Governor and First Lady, I will always support programs that lift up Pennsylvanians living with a disability to ensure their rightful place both in society and in the halls of power."
