Today, the Connecticut State Department of Education announced the launch of its 4th Annual PK-12 School Staff Appreciation Digital Backpack Program. The initiative, led by Commissioner Charlene M. Russell-Tucker, aims to offer special discounts to all public and private school staff across the state during the summer months.
The program extends discounts on various attractions including museums, breweries, and sporting events such as games by the Yankees, Red Sox, Hartford Athletic, Connecticut Sun, and Hartford Yard Goats. Details about participating businesses and access instructions are available at portal.ct.gov/digitalbackpack.
Governor Ned Lamont expressed his gratitude for school staff: “Connecticut’s school staff go above and beyond every day to support our students, and that hard work does not go unnoticed.” He noted that this initiative is a token of appreciation for their efforts in supporting students and families.
Commissioner Russell-Tucker echoed these sentiments: "We are excited to announce the return of the School Staff Appreciation Digital Backpack Program. It is our way of saying thank you to all our school staff for their hard work and dedication throughout the year."
Eligible participants include bus drivers, paraeducators, administrators, school nurses, teachers among others who contribute to the educational environment. Additionally highlighted in this program are opportunities at over 100 Connecticut State Parks facilitated by DEEP’s Passport to the Parks which offers free entry and parking for vehicles registered in Connecticut.
