Director Dr. Charlene Williams | Oregon Department Of Education
Free meals for children in Oregon, ages 18 and younger, are now available through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). This initiative, part of the Oregon Department of Education's efforts to support students between school years, extends to those enrolled in camps and other summer meal programs. A full list of participating locations can be accessed on the ODE website.
Children in foster care or receiving benefits from programs like SNAP, TANF, or FDPIR automatically qualify for free meals at eligible sites. The program ensures that meals are distributed without discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
Additionally, families with incomes meeting certain criteria may also qualify for free meal benefits if their children are enrolled in these programs. For further information or inquiries about eligibility and participation, individuals can reach out to ODE Community Nutrition Manager Meghan Tschida at (971) 701-9004 or via email at meghan.tschida@ode.oregon.gov.
The SFSP adheres to federal civil rights laws and USDA regulations prohibiting discrimination. Information is available in languages other than English for those who need it. Persons with disabilities requiring alternative communication methods should contact their local agency or USDA’s TARGET Center.
Complaints regarding program discrimination can be filed using Form AD-3027 available online or by contacting USDA directly through various channels including mail, fax, or email.
This institution provides equal opportunity access to its services.
