Governor Josh Shapiro and Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne announced the distribution of property tax and rent rebates starting July 1, 2025. The announcement took place at the East Shore YMCA in Dauphin County. The rebates are part of the Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) program and will provide $258 million in relief to older homeowners, renters, and people with disabilities across Pennsylvania.

The initial distribution will include approximately 425,000 rebates. This follows a previous effort by Governor Shapiro's administration which delivered over $319 million in rebates to more than 522,000 Pennsylvanians last year. These efforts were bolstered by bipartisan support for expanding the PTRR program, increasing rebate amounts for eligible applicants, and raising income limits.

The expansion has allowed about 150,000 first-time filers to receive a rebate.

Speakers at the event included Eric Rothermel from Harrisburg Area YMCA, AARP Pennsylvania State Director Bill Johnston-Walsh, and Representative Nate Davidson.
