The Pennsylvania Department of Aging hosted a session with the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) Network to discuss how Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) can aid elder justice efforts in the state. The event gathered leaders from various sectors, including representatives from the PA Office of Attorney General, the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association, and the Office of Elder Justice in the Courts of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Additionally, 27 AAAs from across Pennsylvania participated.

MDTs consist of professionals from social services, criminal and civil justice, mental health, medicine, finance, and public health. Under Secretary Jason Kavulich's leadership, the Department aims to adopt this approach used by other states like New York and California to enhance collaboration for complex protective services cases.

Speakers at the event included Jason Kavulich, Secretary of Aging; Beth Herold from Butler County Area Agency on Aging; Shani Gilmore from Philadelphia Corporation for Aging; Dr. Mark Lachs from Weill Cornell Medicine; Holly Kyle from Union-Snyder Area Agency on Aging; and David Shallcross from the Senior Protection Unit at the Office of Attorney General.
