Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry Secretary Nancy A. Walker is set to visit the Philabundance Community Kitchen, where she will engage with young adults gaining work experience through the MY Work summer program. This initiative, created by L&I's Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), aims to provide high school students with disabilities job opportunities in their local areas.

During her visit, Secretary Walker will join the students in activities such as making sandwiches and packing meals as part of Philabundance's LunchBox 2025 program. This effort aims to deliver 40,000 lunches and 20,000 breakfasts to children who are missing out on school-provided meals during the summer.

Governor Josh Shapiro has proposed a $5 million increase in funding for OVR in the 2025-26 budget. This additional investment would support programs like MY Work and other services that assist individuals with disabilities in finding employment.

The event is scheduled for July 16, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Philabundance Community Kitchen located at 2224 N 10th St, Philadelphia. Media representatives interested in attending should RSVP via email.
