Families in Oregon have until September 3, 2025, to apply for the Summer EBT program, which provides $120 per child to help cover grocery expenses during the summer months when school meal programs are less accessible. The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) and the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) are encouraging families who may be eligible to check their status and submit applications before the deadline.

The program is designed to assist households that may not automatically receive benefits. Most children who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or are members of the Oregon Health Plan with incomes below 185 percent of the Federal Poverty Level received their benefits automatically on May 22, 2025. Children in foster care were also included in this automatic distribution.

However, some families—particularly those with children enrolled in Head Start programs participating in the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Programs—may need to apply directly to determine eligibility. The agencies urge these families to visit https://sebt.oregon.gov or call the Summer EBT Call Center at 833-673-7328 for assistance.

ODHS Director Fariborz Pakseresht stated, “Making sure children have access to nutritious food throughout the summer is critical. This small action could provide significant support to families in Oregon.”

Since May 22, more than 347,027 eligible school-aged children have received a total of $41.6 million through Summer EBT benefits.

ODE Director Dr. Charlene Williams said, “There are many more families out there who may be eligible for the $120 Summer EBT benefit. This is more than a benefit—it’s a lifeline for many families. We’re asking our schools, community organizations, and summer meal providers to help spread the word by posting flyers and sharing information with families. Together, we can ensure every eligible child gets the food support they need this summer.”

Eligible recipients have up to 122 days after receiving their benefits to use them.

More information about eligibility requirements and how to apply can be found at https://sebt.oregon.gov or by calling 833-673-7328 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Pacific Time.
