Kirsten Baesler Superintendent | North Dakota Department of Public Instruction
The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) will start revising the state's Health Content Standards in October 2025. The department is seeking qualified individuals from K-12 schools, districts, and higher education institutions across North Dakota to join a writing committee for this effort.
This committee will review current state and national health standards, as well as those from other states, to update the K-12 health education standards. After completing their work, the committee's recommendations will be submitted to the state superintendent for final approval under NDCC 15.1-02-04(3). If approved, these recommendations will form new academic standards that local school districts can use to develop their own health curricula.
The process is expected to include about four separate two-day meetings and finish by spring 2026. Applications for selection to the Health Standards Writing Committee must be sent by September 5, 2025, to dpiacademicsupp@nd.gov.
For questions about the application process, interested parties are advised to contact Davonne Eldredge.
