Dr. Carrie Rowe, Acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Education | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
The Pennsylvania Insurance Department, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and the Department of Human Services are partnering with Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology to remind college students in Pennsylvania about the importance of renters insurance as the academic year begins. The event will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster.
Officials note that many students and their families may not fully consider risks such as theft, fire, or accidents that can occur in both dormitory and off-campus housing. Renters insurance is described as an affordable way to protect personal belongings. These policies also provide support for commuter students.
The event will feature remarks from Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Michael Humphreys, PDE Deputy Secretary Dr. Lynette Kuhn, DHS Deputy Secretary Hoa Pham, and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology President Dr. Pedro Rivera.
Members of the press interested in attending are asked to RSVP via email.
