Governor Josh Shapiro addressed the second annual AI Horizons Summit in Pittsburgh, where he discussed Pennsylvania’s progress in artificial intelligence. The event brought together representatives from organizations including Google, Carnegie Mellon University, the Bank of New York Mellon, and Westinghouse.
During his remarks, Governor Shapiro highlighted that Pennsylvania now provides what he described as “the most advanced suite of generative AI tools of any state in the nation to any qualified employee.” He said this development builds on the state’s earlier ChatGPT Enterprise pilot program and is intended to help government employees serve residents more efficiently.
Shapiro also noted that Pennsylvania has been recognized among the top three states for AI readiness. He attributed this ranking to a combination of policies, governance measures, workforce training efforts, and pilot programs aimed at ensuring responsible use of generative AI.
