A new 1.7-mile connector trail has been opened at Warriors Path State Park in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. The trail, constructed on a rehabilitated railbed along the Huntingdon and Broad Top Rail Trail, connects the park to the Riddlesburg Trailhead. According to state officials, this addition has led to a 47 percent increase in park visitation compared to last year.

Cindy Adams Dunn, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), visited Warriors Path State Park to mark the completion of the project and discuss its impact on local tourism and outdoor recreation.

"This connector trail is a major step in connecting people to nature and growing the outdoor recreation economy in the region," said Secretary Dunn. "Thank you to the state and local partners who saw the opportunity for Bedford County in developing a well-connected trail system."

The new trail section is part of ongoing efforts by state and local partners to expand recreational infrastructure in Bedford County. Officials believe these projects will help strengthen Pennsylvania's $19 billion outdoor recreation economy by attracting more visitors and supporting related businesses.

Speakers at the event included Joe Basil, Park Manager; Donnie Hedge from Broad Top Township; Bob Genter, Senior Project Manager at GAI Consultants; Tom Churbock from Nason Foundation; Kellie Goodman Shaffer from Bedford County Chamber; and DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn.
