Josh Shapiro, Governor | Pennsylvania Government
Governor Josh Shapiro is set to sign an Executive Order at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia aimed at strengthening protections for Pennsylvanians' access to vaccines. The event will emphasize that individuals in Pennsylvania should have the freedom to make their own health care decisions in consultation with their doctors.
The Governor will be joined by Dr. Debra Bogen, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, as well as leading medical professionals including Madeline Bell, CEO of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia; Dr. Charlotte Moser, Co-Director of CHOP's Vaccine Education Center and former ACIP member; and Dr. Diana Montoya-Williams, a parent, neonatologist, and researcher at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
According to the announcement, Governor Shapiro's administration is taking steps to protect access to lifesaving vaccines amid what it describes as ongoing confusion and distrust surrounding vaccine protocols at the federal level.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Hub for Clinical Collaboration within the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia located at 3500 Civic Center Blvd in Philadelphia. A live stream will be available at pacast.com/live/gov and governor.pa.gov/live/. Members of the press who wish to attend are required to RSVP with names and phone numbers for each team member by contacting ra-gvgovpress@pa.gov.
"Pennsylvanians should be free to make their own health care decisions in consultation with their doctors," Governor Shapiro stated.
