Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor | Official Headshot
Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor has launched a contest for Pennsylvania students to design the cover of the department's first Be Money $mart financial literacy activity book. The initiative aims to help students and their families learn about financial planning.
The activity book is being developed in collaboration with several partners, including the Pennsylvania Alliance of YMCAs, the Pennsylvania Library Association, CrossState Credit Union Association, and the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry.
"Financial literacy is something I've been passionate about for decades," Auditor General DeFoor said. "That's why we created our Be Money $mart initiative. Together, we must continue to raise awareness about the need for financial literacy education in Pennsylvania so that all of our kids, from kindergarteners to high school seniors, and beyond, can Be Money $mart."
The winning artwork will be announced at the 2026 PA Farm Show in Harrisburg. Students from kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to participate by submitting their entries using an official template available at www.paauditor.gov/activitybook. The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2025.
Speakers at the event included David Ozmore, CEO of Harrisburg Area YMCA; Timothy DeFoor, Pennsylvania Auditor General; and Brad Simpson, CFO of CrossState Credit Union Association.
