North Dakota’s K-12 Data Modernization Initiative is progressing as planned, with school districts now preparing for the transition to the Infinite Campus system. Implementation efforts are currently focused on preparation, data quality, and ensuring readiness for data migration. Districts will receive direct support and outreach in the coming weeks as the process moves forward.
The Engagement & Discovery Phase is scheduled from November through mid-December 2025. During this time, pilot migrations will begin in December, followed by a full statewide rollout starting in February 2026.
Consultadd, the vendor handling data migration, will start working directly with districts beginning in November. Their responsibilities include providing each district with a Readiness Checklist and instructions for access, confirming District Points of Contact (POCs), and coordinating schema reviews with Infinite Campus’s data import process. This phase aims to prepare districts thoroughly for upcoming migration activities.
District participation is essential to the project’s success. Consultadd will guide technical and compliance steps, but districts are expected to review and complete their Readiness Checklist by the deadline, attend onboarding sessions, ensure technical contacts have appropriate data access, and validate district data mappings during the process. The migration is fully supported by state teams throughout each step.
Several frequently asked questions about the BRIDGE initiative were addressed:
"Because the State has a data sharing agreement/NDA with the data migration vendor, there is no state requirement for districts to initiate their own additional agreements. However, if your district policy outlines additional requirements, please work with the vendor directly."
"NDDPI will merge duplicate students if they exist."
"Yes. Specifically timed and function-focused training events throughout the year will be available for districts."
"Although only seven years of data will be migrated, all historical data will be extracted. Districts will continue to have access to their historical raw data."
"Yes. This is already a requirement, and homeschool students will continue to be assigned a student ID. Currently, when a district receives a qualifying Statement of Intent to Supervise Home Education form for a student, those students are supposed to be loaded into PowerSchool, and that data flows to STARS, where the student is assigned their student ID. The process will be similar with Infinite Campus."
Districts are encouraged to contact their implementation team regarding specific questions about third-party integrations or custom features. Additional inquiries can be directed via email at BRIDGE@nd.gov.
The BRIDGE team has scheduled live office hours on November 19 at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., offering opportunities for real-time discussion and Q&A sessions related to project updates.
Recordings from October office hours held on October 22 at both noon and 4 p.m. are also available for those who wish to catch up on previous discussions.
