Round Rock Independent School District issued the following announcement.
At the August 13 Board meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a budget amendment that includes establishing a Round Rock ISD Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion led by a Chief Equity Officer (CEO).
The District is actively recruiting for the CEO position and is asking Round Rock ISD parents, staff, high school students and community members for input to help identify the most qualified candidate to positively impact racial and educational equity for all students. The survey closes at 5 pm on Monday, Oct. 5.

The Chief Equity Officer will:
Develop and implement short and long-range equity goals that support the District's strategic plan, mission, and vision while specifically promoting a climate of racial and educational equity for all.
Collaboratively develop institutional policies, practices, and programs that increase racial literacy and cultural responsiveness among our staff and our students that respect, value, and respond to the greater community's needs.
Lead the District's efforts and sustain a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion for all students by addressing systemic inequities to narrow the gaps between highest and lowest achievement categories.
Plan, organize, and direct initiatives related to diversity, equity, and outreach; provide leadership to increase the effectiveness of promoting equity and inclusion District-wide; develop and implement the District's equity plan, and serve as the District's leader diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
