Twenty-eight Texas schools were recognized this year as National Blue Ribbon Schools, a testament to their academic performance and progress in closing achievement gaps.
In a press release posted to the official website of his office, Gov. Greg Abbott congratulated them for their accomplishments in a time of extraordinary challenges.
"Congratulations to the hardworking students, teachers, administrators, and parents of the 28 Texas schools recognized as Blue Ribbon Schools this year," Abbott was quoted as saying in the release. "This prestigious honor is a testament to the Texas' educational excellence and our teachers' dedication to their students. The State of Texas will continue to build a brighter future for every Texas student."
Schools recognized as National Blue Ribbon schools were Alvarado Elementary South, Desertaire Elementary School, Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. Early College High School, Early Childhood Development Center, Early College High School Carrollton, Edward Roberson Middle School, Edward Titche Elementary School, Heights Elementary School, Henry W Longfellow Career Exploration Academy, High School for Law and Justice, Hobbs Williams Elementary School, John Z. Leyendecker Elementary School, Kelly-Pharr Elementary School, Langham Elementary School, Maude Mae Kirchner Elementary School, Memorial Elementary School, Milam Elementary School, Redwater Junior High School, Reilly Elementary School, Saint Theresa Catholic School, Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences, The Shlenker School, Transmountain Early Collee High School, Vista Academy of Austin-Mueller, West Main Elementary School, Windsor Park G/T Elementary School, Windthorst Elementary School, and Young Women's College Preparatory Academy.
