A Teacher Tapp poll has revealed that when asked if they would choose to teach again, 56% of teachers affirmed they would, while 23% indicated they would opt for a different career path. This survey was published on the Teacher Tapp website on February 7.
According to Kickresume, teachers in the United States tend to work longer hours than their counterparts in many other countries, with over 40% reporting workweeks of 41 to 50 hours. Unlike many European nations, the U.S. lacks federal policies guaranteeing paid vacation days, resulting in fewer breaks and increased work-related stress. Consequently, American teachers face greater workplace pressure, experiencing higher levels of stress and fewer opportunities for extended time off compared to educators in countries with stronger labor protections.
Cup of Jo reports that despite these challenges, many teachers find deep fulfillment in their work. As eighth-grade history teacher P.G. says, "The kids are all right, man. They’re funny, compassionate, and kind. Even the ones who are screwing up are just trying to figure out how to be good people. They want someone to help them make the world better."
Teacher Tapp was founded in 2017 by former teachers Becky Allen and Laura McInerney as a daily survey app with over 10,000 participating teachers sharing insights on education. Their goal is to ensure that teachers' voices influence decisions in media, government, and education policy.
