A recent poll conducted by Teacher Tapp has identified student behavior as the primary source of stress for teachers in the United States, particularly affecting those in elementary and middle schools. The findings were released on February 14 through Teacher Tapp's website.
According to the poll, 30% of teachers overall cited student behavior as their leading work-related stressor. This figure was higher among elementary and middle school educators, at 34% and 36%, respectively. In contrast, high school teachers reported a more balanced distribution of stressors, with only 14% identifying student behavior as their top concern. Issues with school leadership were noted by 17% of high school teachers. Administrative tasks and lesson preparation followed as common stressors across all levels, although these varied by school type.

A phone lockbox policy was implemented after a trial indicated improved grade point averages (GPAs) among students without phones. Nationally, 72% of high school teachers view phones as a significant classroom issue. Advocates argue that limiting phone use enhances focus, reduces anxiety, and strengthens peer connections.
