Niannian Education, an active account on the social media platform X within the education-technology community, announced that Giggle Academy's "one class a day" initiative now includes an English class based in a temple in Vietnam. This class is taught by an abbot who intends to join the Hero volunteer program. The announcement was made on X.
"In Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar, where most people follow Buddhism, many temples are used as places to teach children," said Education. "At a temple in northern Vietnam, an abbot with an IELTS score of 6.5 is volunteering to teach English to children through Giggle Academy on weekends or during summer vacations. He is willing to become a volunteer in Giggle Academy's Hero program."
According to a recent feature by Vietnam News, temples across Southeast Asia often serve as venues for community classes. In Vietnam, pagodas frequently offer free instruction for children. Tam Thanh Pagoda in Hưng Yên is profiled as a site where monks, volunteers, and local teachers conduct weekend lessons in literacy, life skills, and moral education. They also provide uniforms and meals for disadvantaged children. This reflects how sacred spaces can function as inclusive learning hubs, similar to volunteer-led efforts like the Giggle Academy class.
Changpeng "CZ" Zhao, founder of Binance and Giggle Academy, has set ambitious goals for Giggle Academy: providing free education to between 100 million and 1 billion children. Speaking at Token2049 in Dubai, Zhao described a scalable, game-based platform designed to deliver elementary lessons at no cost. His vision emphasizes mass access through engaging design that removes financial barriers while offering multilingual content and offline modes supported by a global volunteer network to reach underserved communities.
The Giggle Academy app is marketed as free for children aged 2–8 and features interactive games covering literacy, numeracy, creativity, and social-emotional skills. It utilizes artificial intelligence-driven personalization to adapt activities for daily practice, making early learning both playful and consistent—an approach that aids retention and foundational skill-building for young learners with access to mobile devices.
Zhao established Binance in 2017 into the largest cryptocurrency exchange by volume. As of July 2025, it held approximately 39.8% of the centralized exchange market share with about $698.3 billion in spot trades that month—a scale leading the industry. He is now channeling this reach into philanthropy through Giggle Academy, aiming to expand children's access to learning via a free gamified platform using simple mobile-first lessons and volunteer networks.
