Austin A. Davis 35th Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
Lt. Gov. Austin Davis visited northeastern Pennsylvania to discuss investments made in the 2025-26 state budget aimed at supporting local communities, especially in Monroe and Pike Counties. The new budget allocates additional resources to public safety, food security, and services for older residents.
"Throughout the budget process, Governor Shapiro and I stood up for our principles and stayed at the negotiating table - and at the end of the day, this budget earned broad, bipartisan support," said Davis. "It makes key investments to make Pennsylvania communities safer and care for some of our most vulnerable residents. The Shapiro-Davis Administration is continuing to deliver real results for the good people of Pennsylvania."
During his visit to Monroe County, Davis met with county officials and representatives from SAFE Monroe and the Community Partnership for Gun Safety. He highlighted a Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) grant awarded in March 2024 by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, which he leads. Monroe County is using these funds to implement its plan for preventing gun violence and promoting safe storage practices.
Speakers at the event included Lt. Gov. Austin Davis; Charla Plaines from the PA Commission on Crime & Delinquency; Mike Mancuso, Monroe County District Attorney; Rashad Salters from the PA Department of Health; John Christy, Monroe County Commissioner; John Jakobsen from the Community Partnership for Gun Safety; and Lauren Peterson from SAFE Monroe.
